Abstract

This work recounts the history of the Open Brethren movement in France since its inception in the midnineteenth century. Using the analytical tools of both history and sociology, Sylvain Aharonian retraces the genesis, development and consolidation of the movement, as well as its passage from the margins to the mainstream of French evangelicalism.
