Historische und exegetische Diskussionen werden bewusst eingeschränkt, um dem Ziel einer theologischen, christlichen und christologischen Auslegung gerecht zu werden. Der Kommentar ist ausdrücklich nicht rein akademisch konzipiert und zielt darauf ab, dem christlichen Verkündiger kontextuelles Verständnis, Auslegung und Anwendung zu bieten. Summary Beal presents a cautiously arguing evangelical commentary on the book of Joshua, which aims to meet the recent challenges of New Atheism. Historical and exegetical discussions are deliberately restricted in order to do justice to the goal of a theological, Christian and Christological interpretation. The commentary is consciously not designed in an academic manner and aims to provide the Christian preacher with contextual understanding, Biblical interpretation and application. Résumé L’argumentation prudente du commentaire évangélique sur le livre de Josué que Beal nous offre est destinée à répondre aux défis lancés par le Nouvel athéisme. Les développements historiques et exégétiques sont volontairement réduits pour donner toute sa place à une interprétation théologique à la fois chrétienne et christologique. Le but de ce commentaire, qui ne se veut pas académique, est de fournir au prédicateur chrétien une bonne compréhension du contexte en même temps qu’une interprétation et une application bibliques.", }
