The double object construction is compared in detail to a superficially very similar V-NP-NP construction in which the second NP is the predicate of the first. The behaviour of verb-particle constructions plays a central role in the discussion, which is broadly based on Den Dikken (1995). The paper closes with some broader remarks about the efficacy of a constructional approach to resultative constructions in general., UL https://www.aup-online.com/content/journals/10.5117/NEDTAA2012.3.DISC541
