Heinrich Scholz (1884–1956) remains an enigma within the academic community, resisting clear categorisation within a specific discipline. One might inquire whether he is a theologian, a philosopher, or a logician. In fact, he is all at once. This can only be explained from the perspective of his intellectual biography. The objective of the present article is to provide further insight into Scholz’s intellectual development by analysing previously unpublished material. This study is based on the hitherto unknown correspondence of 180 letters between Heinrich Scholz and Fanny Kempner, a Jewish banker’s wife from Berlin.
