Affiliations: ¹ Julia Guenther is a sociologist and currently undertaking her PhD at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Vienna, Austria. She is an external lecturer at the Austrian universities, mainly in Gender Studies and South Asian Studies. Since 2004 she has spent several years in South India for her research, which focuses on women’s movements, feminist discourses, feminisation of development, resistances, and subjectivity formations of women in India. In particular, her focus has been on Dalit, queer and Muslim women in South India, an intersection of ‘categories’, which highlights the complexity of the Subcontinent. Her latest publication is a co-editorship of the Special Issue of the Journal of Developing Societies, SAGE Publications (1 (2015)) on Globalisation and people at the margins: Experiences from the Global South. Her paper is titled Gender and globalisation: Power relations at India’s margins (Journal of Developing Societies 31(1) (2015): 1-7). She is further on the Editorial Board of the Journal Culture and Religion, for which she is peer-reviewing papers on gender-related topics.
