Aims & Scope

Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis (Journal of History) is the only Dutch academic, peer-reviewed history journal that covers the history from antiquity until now, both Dutch and non-Dutch. Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis is a general historical journal, which means that it is a publication for all disciplines within history and related disciplines. The journal is a publication for everyone interested in history.

Peer Review Process

Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis publishes general historiographic or review articles as wel as more specialist articles.

Articles must conform to general norms of the academic community of historical studies; articles must also be original and contribute to the study of history in a meaningful way. All contributions are evaluated by external experts by means of double-blind peer review.

Call for Papers

Drank & drugs in de achttiende eeuw Achttiende-eeuwers hadden de beschikking over een rijk menu aan psychoactieve stoffen. Naast verschillende vormen van alcohol (bier, wijn, jenever), opium (opiumpillen, laudanum) en tabak (pijptabak, snuiftabak) vonden nieuwe stimulerende middelen als koffie, thee en chocolade hun weg naar herbergen, koffiehuizen en huishoudens. De afgelopen dertig jaar signaleerden historici een ‘soft drugs revolution’ (Goodman, 1995) en bestudeerden ze de eerste drugsepidemieën (Warner over de ‘gin craze’, 2002).In de Lage Landen en elders waren kooplieden actief in legale handel én in illegale smokkel. Aan het eind van de eeuw ontstonden de eerste medische concepten van verslaving, als gevolg van een groeiende ongerustheid over de effecten van alcohol en opium.

Call for papers

Carillon and Bell Culture in the Low Countries is an annual publication about carillon and bell culture and the related tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The articles are the output of academic and/or artistic research. The editors welcome contributions from history, musicology, sociology, anthropology, (historically) informed performance, heritage, cultural studies, campanology etc. Although the Low Countries are the main focus, we also welcome contributions on the bell and carillon culture from all over the world.

For the second yearbook, to be published mid-May 2023, authors may send a short abstract (max. 300 words) to [email protected] by 1 September 2022. Articles can be submitted in Dutch or English. More information can be found in the CfP attached (Nederlands).
