Abstract

Samenvatting

Het toenemende gebruik van digitale technologie voor management en toezicht verandert snel de werkomgeving in Europa. Algoritmische managementsystemen (AIWM’s) worden steeds vaker ingezet om de arbeidsproductiviteit te verhogen en anderzijds worden er ook digitale hulpmiddelen ontwikkeld die specifiek gericht zijn op het verbeteren van de arbeidsveiligheid en gezondheid (V&G). Deze ontwikkelingen bieden kansen, zoals het verminderen van blootstelling aan gevaarlijke of repetitieve taken, maar brengen ook nieuwe risico’s met zich mee, zoals het verlies van autonomie en intensiever digitaal toezicht. De manier waarop deze gevolgen worden opgevangen, hangt niet alleen af van de technologie zelf of van de wet- en regelgeving, maar vooral ook van de manier waarop de technologie wordt ingevoerd en van de preventiecultuur op de werkvloer. Dit artikel bespreekt het onderzoek dat EU-OSHA heeft gepubliceerd rond digitalisering in het kader van zijn vierjarige Healthy Workplaces-campagne. Twee prioritaire thema’s staan daarin centraal: AI-gestuurd algoritmisch management en slimme V&G-systemen. Beide worden besproken in het licht van de ‘Vision Zero’-aanpak, een aanpak die sterk inzet op vroege preventie van ongevallen en incidenten en het ontwikkelen van een preventiecultuur voor veilig en gezond werk.
