Johannes Chrysostomus’ visie op de maaltijd van Christus
Meer MinderAuteur: Riemer RoukemaBecause of John Chrysostom’s reputation of being an excellent, orthodox preacher and an authoritative bishop, a huge number of his homilies and other works have been preserved. This legacy gives a clear insight into his appreciation of the Eucharist, which is the subject of this paper. To John, it is a medicine that should be received with awe since it represents God, revealed in Christ. He relates its sacrificial character to Christ’s redeeming sacrifice, and highlights Christ’s presence equally in the bread and wine of the Eucharist and in the poor who therefore need to be cared for.

Τὸ πνικτόν als buitenbeentje
Meer MinderThis article examines the meaning and function of the prohibition on τὸ πνικτόν in the apostolic decree. Four explanations and backgrounds for this prohibition on ‘the choked’ are critically discussed. The subsequent semantic investigation of πνίγω κ.τ.λ. shows that Luke semantically renews this word. Against the background of Acts 15, this prohibition appears to be theologically and socio-culturally charged and to function as a means of mutual fellowship.

Verstaat gij wat gij vertaalt?
Meer MinderAuteur: Thijs AmersfoortThis article explores the use of large language models as a tool in Bible translation, with specific attention to the strengths and weaknesses of the application of AI to specific translation types. Building on the first results from research into AI-assisted translations in plain language (such as the Dutch Bijbel in Gewone Taal), the study compares these findings with a case study on AI use in a more literal study translation (the Nieuwe Concordante Vertaling). The analysis shows that while AI can accelerate and assist in translation, analysis, and annotation, its limitations differ per translation type, making human oversight indispensable.

Providentia, pneumatologie en praktijken
Meer MinderAuteur: Aaldert GooijerIn theology, providence is often linked to the Father, the Creator of heaven and earth. However, recent literature advocates a Trinitarian reflection on the doctrine providence. This article aims to contribute to this, focusing on the work of the Spirit and human practices. Following Kelsey, the author argues that the Spirit is active in and through human practices. This leads to a new reflection on the three aspects of providence: Conservation, Concurrence, and Government.
