Abstract

Kwalitatief onderzoek wordt vaak gezien als een ‘embodied’ methodologie. Het is gebaseerd op geboeid luisteren, kijken en spreken door de onderzoeker en zijn respondenten. Kwalitatieve onderzoekers zetten hun hele lichaam in (Hordge-Freeman, 2018). Ze gebruiken alle zintuigen om gegevens te formuleren, te verzamelen, te categoriseren en te analyseren. Kwalitatieve onderzoeksmethoden, zoals het houden van interviews of focusgroepen, het analyseren van documenten en het doen van observaties, worden op verschillende manieren onderwezen. Dit gebeurt vaak in formele en informele trajecten, waar in kleine groepen of workshops wordt gewerkt aan projecten en begeleid veldwerk. Door hun fysieke aanwezigheid zijn de instructeurs en leerlingen dan actief betrokken bij het aanleren van kwalitatieve onderzoeksvaardigheden.
